Academic Programmes

Various engineering, basic sciences and humanities departments at NIT Sikkim offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes leading to B.Tech, M.Tech or Ph.D. degrees.

Undergraduate B.Tech Programmes
The institute admits students from all over the country to its undergraduate B.Tech program through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Mains) conducted by Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) every year and DASA (Direct Admission of students abroad), admissions to which are coordinated by a group of NITs annually. The institute currently offers four year B.Tech courses in six departments namely:

Computer Science and Engineering Electronics and Communication Engineering Electrical and Electronics Engineering Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Bio-Technology

Post-graduate M.Tech Programmes
Presently, the institute offers M.Tech program in the department of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and admits students through Centralized Counseling for M.Tech (CCMT), a system wherein students with valid GATE score can fill one CCMT Application form and apply to all the programs of all the participating institutions to which they are eligible.

Post-Graduate Phd Programmes
The Institute offers PhD programs in the following departments/fields under ‘Visvesvaraya Ph.D. scheme in Electronic Design and Information Technology’ for full time PhD program, sponsored by Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India:
